Pelaw View Centre
Pelaw View centre have a number of festive activities taking place these are:
· Saturday 8 December - Christmas Fair - 11am til 2pm - all welcome [table top stalls, tombola, cafe and activities].
· Monday 10 December - Pelaw Performers Christmas Performance - 6.30 - 7.30pm [dance and music performance].
· Thursday 13 December - Children's Christmas Party - 4pm - 6pm [Christmas Party with food, disco and games].

Seaham Christmas light switch on
Seaham Christmas Light Switch On 2019 starts at 5pm on Friday, 30th November. Meeting at the top of Church Street at the first huge Christmas tree with a Christmas Lantern Parade walking down Church Street switching on the lights on the two huge Christmas trees with brass bands and kid entertainment. Then onto Byron Place Shopping Centre to switch on their lights and then walking to Terrace Green for a grand finale of fireworks and switching on the two huge Christmas Trees along with craft, food stalls and kids rides.
From the beginning of December I will be holding VCS advice clinics this will be an opportunity for any member of staff to discuss any specific families who you feel will benefit from engaging from activities and services in the community, these will be as follows:

The Bridge Young Carers
The Bridge Young Carers support children, young people and their families who have a challenging caring responsibility. The service help and support the whole family by:
•Listening to you about what you and your family need.
•Sharing information, advice and support with you and your family.
•Providing young carers with one to one time.
•Providing young carers with opportunities to meet other young carers through. the young carers forum.
•Helping you get the support you need at school.
•Arranging carers breaks.
•Inviting you to share your views

Horden and Peterlee Rugby club
Horden and Peterlee Rugby club are having a Christmas party on 22nd December 13:00-16:00pm, tickets can be purchased from the club and cost £3 with children under the age of 2 being £1.50p (please see attachment for more information)
Waddington Street Centre
Waddington Street Centre is a small independent mental health resource centre with over 35 years of experience offering a wide range of informal educational activities and support services.
All of their activities and services aim to effectively support individual personal development and reduce social isolation and exclusion. Everything they offer is designed to suit a range of interests and needs. They are passionate about mental health and helping people to get back on track. They believe that people who struggle with their mental health should have a safe, supportive and interesting place to recover. Waddington Street is a community of like-minded people who support one another to have the best possible lives. They offer adult and Young People support, The Young Peoples Support drop in is catered for 16-21 year olds and is a referral only service.

I have attached an information leaflet on The Parents Guide to Gaming, with the run up to Christmas families may be getting new games, the booklet highlights how to keep little ones safe when using this equipment
Horden Hub House Christmas Arts and Crafts sessions
Horden Hub house have organised some Christmas arts and crafts sessions, these are due to start tonight at Horden Family Centre 15:30-18:00 and will run for 8 weeks (please see attached)

A new training opportunity being offered by Citizens Advice as part of the DurhamWorks programme will be available for young people aged 16-24 ,starting 5th November, and will include: Customer Service,Communication, questioning and call handling. CV building where required and interview technique including the STAR technique. What’s different about this training is that at the end of it will be a guaranteed interview with contact centres in the north and east of the county! Awareness Sessions are being offered to help promote the course and to provide information about potential Call Centre/Contact Centre vacancies( particularly in the north and east of the county) and employer requirements.
NORTH , Stanley Children’s Centre, Tuesday 30th October starting at 1000 and finishing no later than 12 noon. This is not a drop in but a structured session which the employer will be attending to talk about their vacancies and requirements.
Training will be delivered by Citizens Advice County Durham (CACD) at their Peterlee base, 17-19 Upper Chare, Castledene Shopping Centre starting Monday 5th November. Course details : 10.00am-4pm Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks starting Monday 5th November . Lunch will be provided for the 8 days of structured programme . We welcome those currently registered with DurhamWorks , but also those who have not yet registered with DurhamWorks and would like to do so. Help with costs associated with attending the course will be available.
Dawdon Youth and Community Centre
The centre have asked me to share a number of things this week: ABC Parent and Toddler group The ground is for children aged 0-5 and takes place every Tuesday 13:00-15:00 at a cost of £2 a child with extra siblings at a charge of £1 (please see poster attached)
Job Club and Welfare drop in

Shotton IT Resource centre offer a range of training courses that are delivered distance learning, some of these include: · IT delivered by The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) · Numeracy and Literacy · Home and office IT · Specialist IT · Computer Build · Basic sign language · Adobe photoshop · Digital photography · Keyboard skills · Food Hygiene The centre also offers a lot more learning opportunities and also relevant staff to help with finding a job, updating CV and checking benefit entitlement.

Hub Grub Community Café
Horden Youth and Community Centre are providing a healthy tea for £1 or free for County Durham housing group tenants, this will take place every Thursday 4:00-5:00pm (please see attached poster) .
Blackhall have a Cub Scout session that runs every Thursday night at the scout hut, 06:30-08:00 for children aged nearly 8 to 10. The sessions cost £2.50p and activities include crafts, games and badge work.
SEND toolkit training for parent/carers

Dawdon youth and Community centre – *****Free driving lessons and test*****
Dawdon Youth and community centre are offering 15 hours free driving lessons, provisional and theory paid for. To be eligible for this people must be 20+, unemployed or on a low income working 16 hours or less a week and also complete a 16/17 day course on either Maths/English or extended employability.
