Navigator (Temp) - ROAD (Employment Support Officer)

We are looking for 2 Employment Advisors - Permanent

Here is some key information you’ll want to know right away: 

  • There are 2 vacancies 1 x FTE (37 hours) 1 x Part Time (18.5 hours)

  • Part time vacancy based at either Chester le Street or Stanley office

You will have a working knowledge of client progression options such as skills and vocational training, work placement, job searching and volunteering, and experience of collaborative partnership working.

You will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a deep understanding of the complex needs of our customers, and the issues they face which being out of employment or under-qualified/ skilled. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to build effective and strong relationships with internal and external partners.

You will have a good understanding of the changing environment employability services operate within, with a sound knowledge of welfare reform and experience of working to external funding requirements.

The applicant will play an integral role in proactively supporting our customers to build strong foundations for a successful tenancy through improving their digital skills and access.

You will work flexibly, with a customer-centric approach, to guide customers both individually and in group settings to increase their digital skills, competence and confidence to improve their access to online services.

You will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a deep understanding of the complex needs of our customers, and the issues they face accessing and utilising online services. You will take a learner-led approach, and support Karbon in their mission to minimise social isolation, support the transition to Universal Credit and support the digital channel shift.

You will be able to develop and deliver tailored training programmes, digital awareness and inclusion events; and have experience of collaborative partnership working with excellent interpersonal skills to build effective and strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Macmillan Joining the Dots is an exciting partnership between the Durham County Council and Macmillan Cancer Support which will help develop new ways of working to make sure people affected by cancer, including patients, carers and relatives receive the support they need.  It focuses on non-clinical support, covering money, housing, practical and emotional support, lifestyle and spiritual issues and aims to address concerns over gaps in support available across the county.

Youth Project Worker

Nepacs is a charity which supports a positive future for prisoners and their families in the north east. 

Our Youth Projects provide a unique opportunity for young people who are visiting family members in prison to relax, have fun, chat about their concerns with a trusted adult and feel less isolated and stigmatised.  We are seeking applicants to sustain and develop an existing service at HMP Frankland, linked to supporting the prison visiting experience for young people at weekends and through school holidays. 

The post holder will develop and support a team of volunteers, and will facilitate activities for young people waiting to go into visits; provide activities for young people in the visits hall, and assist with outreach activities to reduce young people’s self-confidence and emotional well-being by encouraging peer support.

Wheels to Work Durham

Wheels to Work is now available to even more residents across County Durham than ever before!

Thanks to funding from 7 different Area Action Partnerships across the County, we can now offer our moped-hire service to residents of; Chester-Le-Street Stanley Mid Durham Bishop Auckland and Shildon East Durham Rural Corridor (Fishburn, Trimdon, Sedgefield area) 3 Towns Partnership (Crook, Willington and Tow Law) and Spennymoor Wheels to Work is a transport initiative that helps people get to work, training or education where transport is a barrier. We have helped more than 60 people since the pilot scheme began in October 2016 and now, thanks to AAP funding, have an even bigger fleet of bikes.

Please help us to spread the word by sharing with as many people as possible and bear us in mind when dealing with anyone who needs help with transport to get to a job.
