Boost your Business and Bright Idea programme **New**

The NE-BIC have agreed to fund five more ‘Boost your Business’ courses. For those who could not attend the previous weekends, here is another chance (a number did comeback to me saying that they would have liked to attend but had other commitments, and to advise them of other dates). For those who did attend, you may know someone who you would like to recommend the course to.

It is over 3 days and 2 nights and you do need to committee to the 3 days. They are nice venues and it is good fun and good networking. It is not social enterprise focused but 95% of the content is the same. And at the end of it you get a level 2 accredited qualification in Enterprise skills, and another in Digital Promotion So if you are or know someone who may be interested in enrolling on a Boost your Business course, then the next ones are on – (you need to contact me so I can get you registered!)

3rd August weekend – George hotel, Chollerford 14th September weekend – George hotel, Chollerford
28th September weekend – Novotel, Newcastle 5th October weekend – Usdaw College, Durham
19th October weekend – Novotel, Newcastle

There are still places available for the 3rd August so we are keen to recruit quickly for this one. Just to remind everyone all the feedback has been great – take a friend to make a weekend of it! I am also pleased to advise that a fourth round of the current Bright Ideas programme opens on 26 June and closes on 31 July. I have been asked to share this (aimed more at any early start groups). Involving Co-ops UK, they don't expect to be allocating support to successful groups until September. But it can lead to a £15k grant and paid support (so you could get more of me!). So take a look.

Cheers Kevin

Social Enterprise Acumen news **Current**

Social Enterprise Acumen has moved offices to The Old Rectory, The Broadway, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 4BB.

This amazing Grade 2* listed building is an asset transfer from Sunderland City Council to the newly formed Acumen Community Buildings which we have set up to develop the building into a regional centre for social enterprise and community business as well as bring an asset back into use for the local community. Social Enterprise Acumen is the anchor tenant and we are looking for more social enterprises to join us in creating a culture of enterprise in the area.

We will shortly be sharing our brochure showcasing the various office, co-working, training and events spaces we have available. Do come to one of our events over the next few months and see what a fantastic place it is.
