Humankind’s Independent Living Unit - offers a range of housing-related support services, advice and guidance to help people obtain accommodation and sustain independent living. The focus or our work is to help people progress towards a sustained independent lifestyle. We work with a wide variety of clients including substance misusers, offenders, teenage parents, people with physical or learning disabilities, people with mental health issues, people experiencing domestic violence, etc. Our work involves visiting clients who live in a variety of different accommodation types, e.g. private-rented, supported housing, sheltered housing, owner-occupied, etc. The following opportunity has arisen to join our 'Intensive Mental Health Floating Support Service' in Darlington:  Project Worker Your motivation to enable others to improve their quality of life is vital to this role. You will provide housing related support to individuals with complex mental health problems who are living in the community, to enable them to access and sustain safe and secure accommodation and live independently. You will also act in a signposting capacity enabling individuals to access a wide range of additional services to meet their needs. You will work closely with key agencies and provide a drop in support service at West Park Hospital.

The wait ’er while café is a well-established and much loved community café based in Bullion Hall Community Centre. The post holder will (a) Supervise and support the team of service users, who have medium level support needs (maximum of 4 service users per day). Enable them to develop new skills including preparation of meals, food hygiene, health and safety awareness etc. (b) To support the running of this busy community café which serves meals in-house, provides meals for activities in the building such as weekly luncheon clubs and serves take away meals to our neighbours. It is essential that applicants have experience of working with and empowering adults with learning disabilities alongside a positive can- do attitude able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. This new role will assist the CEO and Board in providing a hands on approach to day to day operations, whilst undertaking business development and continuous improvement to deliver future growth. Wheels to Work Durham **New**

Wheels to Work is now available to even more residents across County Durham than ever before! 

Thanks to funding from 7 different Area Action Partnerships across the County, we can now offer our moped-hire service to residents of; Chester-Le-Street Stanley Mid Durham Bishop Auckland and Shildon East Durham Rural Corridor (Fishburn, Trimdon, Sedgefield area) 3 Towns Partnership (Crook, Willington and Tow Law) and Spennymoor Wheels to Work is a transport initiative that helps people get to work, training or education where transport is a barrier. We have helped more than 60 people since the pilot scheme began in October 2016 and now, thanks to AAP funding, have an even bigger fleet of bikes.

Please help us to spread the word by sharing with as many people as possible and bear us in mind when dealing with anyone who needs help with transport to get to a job.
