Derwentside CSPAN Meeting 16th December **Current**

Please find attached the agenda and notes from the  CSPAN meeting held on the 16th December

What is a Community Sport and Physical Activity Network ? **Current**

In 2010, a review of Community Sport Networks was completed to reflect the formation of a single unitary authority, and the former 7 CSN structures were amalgamated to create 5 new Sport and Physical Activity networks (CSPAN’s) covering the following geographical areas of County Durham:

The former district of Chester le Street and Durham City
The former district of Derwentside
The former district of Easington
The former borough of Sedgefield
The former districts of Teesdale and Wear Valley

There was a commitment by the SPA board  to support the 5 CSPAN’s; providing a network with a single focus for sport and physical activity planning, which is connected to wider agenda’s, but not diluted in wider partnerships.

The board re-affirmed that each network required clear plans to guide the local priorities and resource. This would be supported by wider engagement and communications (e-newsletters, club network evenings) to ensure that smaller network members were engaged to improve sport and physical activity.

Derwentside Community Sport Network Sport and Physical Activity Plan **Current**

Increasing participation in Sport and Physical Activity is both a National and local agenda – it helps regenerate communities, improves their health, learning and cohesion – and above all it can be fun and enjoyable and help County Durham’s happiness rating! However, resource is shrinking fast. A much wider range of organisations are involved in the planning and delivery of sport and physical activity. The challenges are greater. For these reasons, it is increasingly important to agree to plan on a local area basis, to share ideas, resource and opportunity for the greater good

We have produced this plan and invite comments to be fed back to
